[Silver's been in a noticeably bitchy mood for the last few days, and it seems to be getting worse. Thankfully he hasn't resorted to taking it out on his Pokemon, but he's made a big deal of avoiding people and spending as much time alone as possible.

Right now he's puttering around his and Jeb's home, searching the cabinets half-heartedly for a snack. He's not hungry, but he figures he should eat something lest he pass out and Jeb fusses over him.]

[Jeb pokes his head into the kitchen.] Hey, Silver. Are you looking for something specific?

[He's noticed that Silver's been is a worse mood than usual, but he's not sure how to approach him and ask why. He doesn't have any hints as to why this is, either...]

[Silver gives a rather undignified yelp of surprise as he looks up. Oh, it's only Jeb...he frowns again, shaking his head]

No, not really.

[Well, who else would it be? No one else lives with them...]

I could make us something, if you'd like!

[tsunsandsteals]

[One of his Pokemon trying to troll him, maybe.]

That's fine, you don't have to. [keeps rummaging, trying to look as busy as possible. He's not exactly in the mood for company or chatter...well, he rarely ever is but lately he wants to be left alone more than ever.]

[Jeb would never let them--okay well maybe if Jeb weren't home...]

Oh, all right. If you say so! [Awkward... shuffling...]

Yeah.

[And Silver continues rummaging through the cabinets, slamming doors, grumbling...finally he takes out a package of ramen and shrugs.]

[...well, Jeb's just going to have to do his best, even if he's nervous and still not sure this is the way this topic should be approached with Silver:]

Silver, did something happen? You seem more frustrated lately.

[tsunsandsteals]

No, nothing happened! I'm not! [takes out a pot and fills it halfway with water]

Are you sure? Because it sort of seems like...

[tsunsandsteals]

Seems like what? [puts the pot on to boil]

[sketchingideals]

It just seems like something did happen, that's all.

[tsunsandsteals]

Nothing happened! [oh shit, his voice just cracked. And his wings seem to be molting a bit, too] I'm just...it's just this time of year, okay? [watching the water boil]

Oh... bad memories? [He really just wants to help.]

[tsunsandsteals]

You could say that. [tugs at a loose feather before remembering he's not supposed to pull them out. More like NO memories; no one around "home" ever gave a damn about his birthday. Maybe Petrel now and then, or one of the nicer grunts who didn't hate kids.]

Well, maybe we can do something to make those memories not so bad! I mean, it won't make them go away, but having a better association with this time of year might help! [Smile.]

[tsunsandsteals]

[Silver almost appreciates the naive optimism. Almost. Instead, he rolls his eyes and continues to watch the pot of water]

What sort of thing should we do? Maybe I could make something more fancy for us for dinner one night. Or we could learn how to do something together!

[tsunsandsteals]

W-we don't have to do anything! It'll pass! [grumbles, stupid voice squeaking] Stop worrying so much, jeez!

I... I'm not worrying! I just want to help you out and do something nice with you.

[tsunsandsteals]

I don't need help! [rips open the package and practically THROWS the ramen into the water]

[sketchingideals]

Silver, I don't mean it like that! [Sighs a little.] You know I don't.

[tsunsandsteals]

...look, it's stupid. It's nothing, I...I just need to be alone for the next few days. [shakes in the spices haphazardly]

[sketchingideals]

Silver, you should really be careful with those spices... [Maybe changing the subject will help?]

[tsunsandsteals]

It's fine. [cue some of it flying up into his face-SNEEZES, throws up his arm to block it] Damn it!

[sketchingideals]

Silver, are you okay?!

[tsunsandsteals]

I'm fine! [rubs his nose] It's just a little dust in the nose, for fuck's sake. [stirs at the ramen until he decides it's cooked enough. It's actually still a little undercooked but he doesn't care. Turns off the stove, dumps it into a bowl and grabs a pair of chopsticks]

[sketchingideals]

[Just watches him. There really is a lot he doesn't know about Silver, isn't there?]

[tsunsandsteals]

I'm gonna go eat in my room. Maybe I'll see you later. [grabs a bottle of soda from the fridge before gathering his ramen and chopsticks, then turns and walks away.]

[sketchingideals]

Okay. ...I hope you feel better, Silver.

[tsunsandsteals]

Yeah, whatever. [moments later the door to Silver's room can be heard slamming]

[Jeb is about to leave the kitchen when something on the calendar catches his eye. He walks over to it, curious as to what's marked--

Silver's... birthday? Is that why he's upset? Jeb doesn't completely understand, but he figures that Silver probably doesn't have the best of birthday experiences.

But he can help change that, can't he? He'll get to work on that, as soon as he can!]
