[Silver looks like he just woke up from a long nap. Which he kind of did, he slept most of the day. Anyone who's seen him within the last few weeks will notice he looks like himself again, and his Pokemon are out of their balls watching...they've kinda been watching him sleep. Cute. Or creepy. Maybe both.

He has a vague memory of...something. Something being off but he's not sure what and other than that he knows nothing of what happened the past few weeks. His head feels fuzzy and he's achy and his mouth tastes like...8-bits. Whatever those are.

He sits up, rubbing his head and smiling thinly at his Pokemon.]

I feel like I missed so much...

[You're probably noticing a familiar, but not as familiar-looking redhead walking around the village. His hair is shorter and choppier and he seems shorter and stockier. And his face is...not as expressive. He's also talking in random word salad phrases-VERY loudly.

[Last year he only had to buy presents for a few people who were definitely just his friends. This year there's a girl in the picture. A girl who he may or may not kindasorta like as more than just a friend. Maybe. The point is he cares what she thinks and his gift can't be some lousy trinket or boring thing. He wants her to actually like it...it's gotta be something that gets a rare smile out of her.

After combing the shelves of the stores a dozen times, Silver finally goes home empty-handed. He can shop for everyone else later, this has to be taken care of first so he can stop fussing about it like an idiot.]

Um...so I wanna buy a Christmas present for a girl. She's a few years older than me, and...we're good friends. And I like her a lot, she's really cool and sarcastic and smart. But I don't wanna get her just some book or some random thing. I want it to like...mean something.

[Jeb doesn't just do the cooking because he's so damn nice and enjoys doing it, he does it because if he let Silver attempt anything it would end very, very badly.

And unfortunately, that's exactly what happened when Silver decided that part of self-improvement involved learning to cook. See, Silver's not just a bad cook, he's a spectacularly bad one who can't even boil water for macaroni and cheese without making a mess. First he didn't let it boil long enough, then he added too much macaroni, then he let it cook too long and his idea of "cheese sauce" was throwing half a package of cheese in the pot. And that's not even getting into the mistakes he made with the spices. Long story short, dinner's screwed and the kitchen's a mess. And Silver managed to burn himself a few times, ow.

So right now he's at the store picking up some replacement cheese. And bandaids. And he's trying to hurry so he can get back and clean the kitchen before Jeb gets home. He's pretty disheveled from having spilled things and tripped several times. Feel free to ~~troll him mercilessly~~ point this out.]

[It's a nice day, isn't it? The kind of day to just sit outside and enjoy it, crazy as that seems. Yet Silver's sitting on the steps of the library, reading a Jack London book, Quilava chilling beside him.

It's still weird, spending days not training or trying to be stronger than everyone. So far taking Sundays off seems to be working, letting his team rest but not letting them get lazy...maybe Saturdays, too?

Yeah, maybe. He'd have to see about that.]

[Now that he's not training his Pokemon to exhaustion, Silver's in the market for some new hobbies. A guy's gotta have more to do than waiting for his team to wanna train, after all! So he's walking around town, looking at a list he made: reading, possibly taking art lessons from Jeb, learning to cook (only if absolutely desperate). Yeah, it's pretty small...maybe he should've asked around for some ideas.

Oh, well. Maybe he'll get some from walking around. He's in a fairly good mood today, so if anyone approached they might get actual conversation!]

[So that was Christmas. Awesome food, gifts, good company...

Weird how someone he's only known for almost a year feels more like family than he ever did. Jeb had gone all out, cookies and the best Christmas dinner ever...Silver finally understood what "foodgasms" were. And he's still a little embarrassed.

And what's more he feels like he can't thank Jeb enough. Sometimes he wonders if he even deserves such a good friend, considering what a jerk he can be.

[At this point he's willing to admit he's worried for Jeb, but he's most certainly not worried for Lance. Not at all. With all those giant dragons at his disposal Lance can handle himself just fine.

So Silver is -shockgasp- shopping! Well, they need stuff anyway and it's something to do while Golbat and Sneasel are taking a nap. Quilava's with him, nosing at shelves and being generally frisky, and Silver's trying not to seem charmed by it.]

[It doesn't matter how many explanations he reads or heads. This is still not his world, and the unfamiliarity always manages to bite at him in some way. No wild Pokemon running around, so his team has to train against rocks and trees. Regular animals, especially the ones that could somehow talk like that pigeon he met once. The Malnosso. The shifts. The Kin’cora, not just the stupid power cap that came with the ordeal but hearing about all they went through.

Just. Everything.

And of course, the wings. Even though he's mostly learned to live with them, every now and then he'll feel the itch or see a stray feather or two coming off them.

All this on top of certain feelings he's been forced to come to terms with...no, not those feelings, thank whoever was up there, but feelings just the same.

...dare he say it, he wants to go home. Even having to put up with bleeding hearts like Lance and that girl or stupid Team Rocket agents isn't so bad compared to this.

And as he's thinking about all this, he's resting under a tree with Quilava in his lap, as the Pokemon's taken to doing lately.]

It's all just so dumb.

[Is it just him, or are the trees whispering an awful lot lately? The fact that the trees are talking at all should have alarmed him, but Silver pretty much knows to expect crazy shit to happen for no reason by now. No, what's bugging him is what they're whispering.]

[What's this? Silver is outside with his Pokemon and...not training?! You're not seeing things, this is totally the case. Quilava is happily rolling around in the grass, Sneasel's sharpening his claws on a rock and Golbat is looking for somewhere cool and shady to relax. Silver himself is just sitting there and watching them.

They're not gonna get stronger by playing and goofing off. Silver wants to be annoyed by this but he just...can't.]

[Silver's been in a noticeably bitchy mood for the last few days, and it seems to be getting worse. Thankfully he hasn't resorted to taking it out on his Pokemon, but he's made a big deal of avoiding people and spending as much time alone as possible.

Right now he's puttering around his and Jeb's home, searching the cabinets half-heartedly for a snack. He's not hungry, but he figures he should eat something lest he pass out and Jeb fusses over him.]

[For once, Silver isn't in the forest to work his Pokemon to exhaustion. In fact, he left them back at the house, apparently granting them rare permission to rest. Instead, he's sitting beside a tree, head bowed and one knee drawn up to his chest. He's deep in thought, almost as if considering a couple things...things he'd rather not have to be considering.]

Damn it...everyone who says those things are wimps and bleeding hearts, but...

[By some miracle, Silver seems to have gotten used to his new home. Or at least come to accept the fact that he's here forever, the wings are serious business and he can't bully his way out of either. So today he's decided to finally find his Pokemon.]
